We would like to thank you for your cooperation so far and wish you every success in the New Year. We are already looking forward to getting back to work on projects and fulfilling our joint business visions after the Christmas slowdown time. 

But first, we would like to share with you our perspective on “corporate Christmas” and the associated tradition of mutual gift-giving. At Grant Thornton, we decided to take a different approach this year. The very address at the beginning of this message implies that, when it came to giving gifts, Fortune was not sparing with us. 

And so, while we face the obstacles that fierce competition or demanding administration puts in the way of achieving our goals, many people are struggling with obstacles in a much tougher field. 

Therefore, we have decided to take advantage of this privilege and use the amount we used to spend on hundreds of material donations every year to help those who cannot do without it. You can read the specific story of the Vitík family, which we decided to support, here.

The Vitík Family

The story that we have drawn for direct support is the fate of the Vitík family, who have two little boys, Adam and Matýsek. Their life is full of challenges, but also of great determination and love. Adam, the older of the boys, came into the world with a very difficult start. He was born with no signs of life, and doctors did not believe he could survive. They even recommended that his mother should place him in institutional care. But she didn't give up. With incredible tenacity and thanks to the support of her loved ones, she began intensive rehabilitation right after the birth. As a result, Adam started walking at the age of two, and although he still has mental and physical disabilities, he now goes to school, reads, writes, and even rides a bike. While the daily struggle with his condition continues, his mother lovingly cares for him and helps him grow. Matysek, the younger of the sons, has the rare Costello syndrome, which brings many health complications with it. He has had trouble eating since he was a baby and was diagnosed with cancer at 11 months old. He underwent challenging treatment that left him exhausted, but his mother fought back with determination to give him a chance at a better life. After years of hard work, Matysek has started to eat, speak and is slowly learning to walk again after hip and Achilles surgery. Mom takes care of both boys every day, fulfilling the role of physiotherapist, teacher and psychologist. Her days are filled with care from morning to night, but she never gives up. Despite all the difficulties, she is happy that her sons are making progress.
