Introduction of carbon levy

As part of the “Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM)”, the European Commission has proposed the introduction of a carbon levy, which is to take effect from 1 January 2023. It is intended for the import of cement, electricity, fertilisers, iron, steel, and aluminium. In connection with the implementation of the levy, there is to be the obligation of registration, buying carbon permits and submitting an annual report.
