The Customs Authority has issued a warning regarding occasional sale of alcohol at public events. Occasional sale of alcohol is only possible at wine tasting, partially fermented grape juice tasting, farmer’s and traditional markets, festivals open to the public, traditional, cultural, dance and similar events. However, the organiser of the event must notify the customs office of this intention no later than 5 working days before the start of the sale. Failure to do so may result in a fine of up to CZK 800,000 or a ban of up to 6 months. The obligation to report applies primarily to individuals, clubs, associations, foundations, organisations, municipalities and all other event organisers, who wish to sell alcoholic beverages and spirits on such occasions. Beware also when organising sporting events open to the public, where alcoholic beverages containing no more than 4.3 % by volume of ethanol and wine may be sold for casual sale.
