On 16 November 2021, a draft amendment to the Trade Licensing Act submitted by the Prague City Council was sent to MPs. The main purpose is that apartments and family houses serve their original purpose, i.e. housing, and not as accommodation facilities. The proposal empowers municipalities to enact regulation regarding the provision of accommodation services under the Trade Licensing Act. With this regulation, the municipality may establish a period, during which the provision of accommodation services in apartment buildings, family houses and family recreation buildings is prohibited, as well as conditions such as the maximum number of simultaneous occupants or the maximum number of overnight stays per calendar year.
