On 18 May 2022, the government decided to valorise the compensation that replaces earnings after a work-related injury or in case of occupational disease. Both the average earnings and the amount of pensions paid play a role in the calculation of the compensation, which is why it is necessary to increase the average earnings, based on which the compensation is calculated.
Compensation for loss of earnings following incapacity for work resulting from an occupational accident or disease will now be payable to employees at an increase of 8.2%.
The same applies to reimbursement of maintenance costs for survivors, who also benefit from a new 8.2% increase in compensation.
Increased compensation will not apply to persons, who become entitled to compensation for loss of earnings and survivor support costs after December 31, 2022. The government decree will take effect on 1 June 2022.
