Same as last year, the Parliament of the Czech Republic is proposing to remit health and social insurance levies for sole traders for the period of January to July 2021. The Parliament is explaining this proposal by saying that it wants to help entrepreneurs overcome this critical period and maintain their ability to continue with their business to the full extent. This would be a waiver of insurance premium up to the amount of the minimum prepayments applicable for the year 2021 at maximum. In the year 2021, a self-employed person is to pay minimum prepayments totalling CZK 59,772, and if the government approves this draft bill, traders would save nearly CZK 30,000 on levies.
Nothing is simple or black-and-white, however, and the proposal therefore also mentions the impact of the waiver of levies on the state budget. According to estimates, the state might lose income reaching a total of CZK 14.3bn for the period of January to July 2021.
