Merciful summer at the Czech Social Security Administration

Share article:

On 10 July 2023, the Czech Social Security Administration (hereinafter the “CSSA”) launched a new service on its ePortal, thanks to which it is possible to find out the insurance premiums owed to the CSSA and submit a notice of repayment. The novelty applies only to debts on insurance premiums, penalties and debts on execution costs incurred before 1 October 2022.

During the merciful summer, penalties and enforcement costs related to premiums owed may be waived, but the total amount of premiums owed must be paid.

CSSA offers two options for repaying the insurance debt on its ePortal:

  • notice of payment of premiums by 30 November 2023 – this is the repayment of outstanding premiums in a lump sum by 30 November 2023
  • notice of payment in instalments – the outstanding premium can be paid in several instalments (only for amounts exceeding CZK 5,000). According to the law, the first instalment must be paid by 31 December 2023 and each subsequent instalment no later than the last day of the following calendar month.

You can find out the amount of the debt and file a notice of repayment at this link https://eportal.cssz.cz/web/portal. Once the client completes the Notice of Premium Due, the filing information is generated, along with payment information on where to send the premium due.

Finally, in its report, the CSSA points out that the extraordinary waiver of penalties and execution costs in this case no longer applies to outstanding premiums, penalties and execution costs recovered through a bailiff or to premiums due after 30 September 2022. This had already been the subject of the Merciful Summer I and II.
