Regular testing has been carried out since the beginning of this year with the aim of eliminating the incidence of Covid-19 infection in work and school groups. This testing will end in schools and businesses on 18 February 2022 following a government decision.
Students in primary schools and full-time education in conservatories and secondary schools were tested once a week from 17 January 2022. For the first two weeks in January, children were even tested twice a week. The last mass testing in schools will therefore take place on Monday 14 February 2022. With the end of Covid-19 testing in schools, the obligation for schools to inform health officials about student or employee infections and risky contacts will also end. Parents will not be obliged to tell the school that their child has had a positive PCR test. If a child comes to school with symptoms of illness, the school will still have a legal obligation to separate them from other pupils.
Employers have been required to test all employees in the workplace twice a week from 17 January 2022. From 18 February 2022, this mandatory testing in companies will also be cancelled. For the sake of completeness, it may be added that the possibility of drawing contributions from the Preventive Programme for the payment of antigen self-tests for employers and self-employed persons ends on 18 February 2022.
